What To Do When Life Is Confusing

I was reading my journal the other day and came across this entry...

I have avoided plenty of things in my life. In gymnastics, I avoided the balance beam because I didn’t want to die. In the 8th grade, I avoided Joe Smith like the plague. It didn't stop there. Throughout the years, many things have received the cold shoulder, but one thing I never avoided was ministry. If there was a mission trip, I was on it. When service projects come up, I was the first to volunteer. Its been this way my whole life until 2 years ago. Ministry has become the Joe Smith in my life. The worst part is that I don’t know why I’m feeling like this. I love ministry. I love my church. I love God. I love my gifts. So why? I don’t want to strive for answers, but I would love for God to reveal a few.

Your Turn…

I wanted to share this old entry because, at some point in life, we all get there. We have all run into things that just stop being easy, and we just don’t know why. We often think that God is giving us a sign that He wants us to stop doing what is confusing. Maybe it is this simple once in a while, but not always. When we are in the thick of things is when we have the hardest time seeing and hearing clearly. Sometimes God is asking us to rest and re-evaluate.

Two years later, I can say with confidence that God was calling me to rest. Nothing was wrong. I just needed to focus on my home and the people in it.

Is there something in your life causing you confusion? Instead of attaching yourself to frustration, take time to rest from the chaos and just seek God. He will reveal the answer if you continue to seek Him and wait for His timing.
