It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Next week is Christmas! I do not understand why I’m so excited, but I am! LOL! The tree is up, the presents wrapped, and the meal planned. I think what I am getting most excited about each year is a day of no expectations. It has taken a lot of effort to have a day like this, but it’s been worth it.
I have accepted the fact that my kids won’t love everything I get them, and that something I make for dinner won’t turn outright. I laugh knowing that the kids will drive me crazy wanting to play with all their toys and then be bored by Christmas night. These have become traditions that make my Christmas day so fun.
The other thing I’m looking forward to is the week after Christmas with our family. For the last 6 years, we have had a blast hosted 15 of our family members. Living in an 1100 sq ft apartment has forced us to change it up a little this year and meet in Missouri. It will be different, but a lot of fun.

Are you excited or dreading Christmas? I know not all of us love Christmas. I know a few friends that don’t celebrate it for religious reasons, or because it brings back hard memories.
It's hard to understand others’ people’s perspectives and reasons for celebrating or not celebrating, but we can strive to respect. In fact, instead of judging, it would be fun to lean in and try to understand. Just as we want people to understand and respect our traditions and thoughts, others want us to understand and respect theirs. I pray that in this season, we can understand and respect our differences. We don’t have to agree, but we can understand in a way that shows the love of God.
